Actors and Actresses of the 1950 Decade

The 1950′s were all about full skirts and Elvis Presley, but which stars stood in the spotlight on the big screen. In 1950, Marilyn Monroe’s career as an actress really began when she starred in “The Asphalt Jungle” and “All About Eve,” which were both well recieved by the critics, putting her off to a great start. Later, as her career progressed, she started getting more leading roles in the film industry, so to broaden her range of acting skills, she went to study at the Actors Studio to better her performance. And pay off it did, as critics hailed her dramatic role in the “Bus Stop,” where she recieved a Golden Globe nomination and was named pop icon. Marlon Brando is another star that rised to fame in the 1950′s, and was named one of the greatest actors of the 20th Century. In the film called “A Streetcar Named Desire,” Marlon Brando really humbled the audience and was nominated an Academy Award for Best Actor for not only that movie, but his next three movies as well. These films had put him on the fast track to stardom, the audience loved his acting style and in example of that, he won the BAFTA Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role and an Oscar for his performance in the movie “On The Waterfront.”
