Music Scores Written for Hollywood Movies

Think of all the wonderful movies you have seen over the years, all the feelings that come to mind, all the emotions that still carry impact and affect you to this day. Yes, there are hundreds of them, for some even thousands. One thing that binds them all together is the music.

Musical scores can add so much to the overall experience of seeing a film. Scores can be brash and bold, and accentuate the action on the screen, make it feel almost alive. A far more subtle influence can often be incorporated into the film with the right musical score.

Take a few examples if you will, and allow yourself to play a few bars in your head, and see where it brings you. The “Lawrence of Arabia” theme was chosen by Sir David Lean, as once heard it forever conjures up the majesty and grandeur of the vast desert landscapes. James Bond…anyone? Merely a few notes from the opening theme and viola’, the mood has been set.

The John Williams score for “Jaws” struck a chord with the public that resonates still.” Midnight Cowboy” was so enhanced by the score that thinking about the movie without hearing the music run through your mind is almost next to impossible. Think of the score as seasoning is to a chef. A director knows that just the right blend can enhance and elevate the cinematic experience and indelible etch upon your mind a feeling that can last a lifetime.
