History of Hollywood: Music Actors and Actresses
March 30th, 2011 by adminHollywood is located in Los Angeles, California and is actually a district, not a city. Many Hollywood concert stages and venues are used to premiere movies, musicals and the Academy Awards.
By 1900, the community named Cahuenga had a population of 500; Los Angeles had a population of 100,000. In 1902, a major hotel opened in Hollywood. Hollywood became a municipality in 1903. In 1910, movie director, D. W. Griffith traveled to the west coast and started filming in Los Angeles; The company then traveled 5 miles north to Hollywood to film. Griffith was responsbile for the first movie filmed shot in Hollywood and the name of the movie was “In Old California.” In 1913, many movie makers started filming movies in Hollywood. The first feature film made in Hollywood was “The Sqaw Man.”
Some of the most famous Hollywood actors, actresses and musicians throughout time include Woody Allen, Julie Andrews, Lois Armstrong, Fred Astaire, Lucille Ball, Anne Bancroft, Ingrid Bergman, Marlon Brando, Charlie Chaplin and Gary Cooper.
A tribute to one of my favorite actresses, Lucille Ball,http://www.classicmovies.org/articles/aa080501a.htm mentions the “I Love Lucy Show” that is one of my all-time favorites television shows. Desni Arnez, Lucille Ball’s husband starred in the show and displayed his musical talents at times on the show. Many people today even enjoy watching the reruns of this popular and very comical show.
